Our Team at EMC HIRE
As Director & General Manager of EMC Hire it gives me great pleasure to introduce both visually and informally our key members of staff to you. You may of course feel you know them already if you're a regular customer. On dialling our number the first person most likely to greet you is Anthea Barker whose overall knowledge & experience will ensure that you are transferred to the right person if available. Anthea fulfils a dual role as both Office Manager and with her twenty plus years of seniority with EMCH is also our Company Secretary. She will handle all billing matters at accounts level and can also stand in for Janet with any hire items you require if we are suddenly overloaded. Some of our regular customers will select items from the Web, receive a quote, place an order and have goods delivered without lifting the phone but we still like to talk to you.
If you need to hire any equipment from either an ad-hoc selection to a complete system then you can refer to our hire catalogue, CD or website where a quotation can be requested. If you are having difficulties then contact Janet Bouttell our Hire Manager. She acts as customer liaison within the Hire Department. Janet has a wealth of knowledge on most items and can give advice on a certain amount of item compatibility. She deals with everything from quotations through to the final despatch list. She will also arrange the allocation and shipment of all items by the most suitable method of transportation to the customer's premises and collection when the hire terminates. With over seventeen years experience within the company she makes sure that the equipment hire "chain" runs smoothly.
Should the enquirer need more serious technical advice as to which items to use then they will probably be transferred to Philip Pritchard our Service Manager who oversees all repairs & calibration. He is also responsible for the cycle of calibrations which each item undergoes. If Phil is not available, John our MD will step in.
Phil joined us over eighteen years ago having previously worked on EMC within the MOD. He is responsible for checking all returned equipment before labelling it up ready for use again. Phil has gained extensive knowledge on the conducted immunity & high voltage test scenarios and on occasions will take equipment himself to the hirer's premises with the purpose of setting up the entire test under software control & assisting until the hirer is competent to carry on.
A relatively new member of our team is Alex Rowland. Alex brings a fresh discipline into the fold in the form of marketing and product promotion. Whilst we are all skilled at advising within EMC and RF scenarios, Alex has the job of increasing our turnover by expanding our services into other disciplines and finding more customers outside of the EMC box. As our new Marketing Manager he will be talking to our customers and finding out what they expect from us and how we can better meet their expectations. He's also looking forward to widening his own knowledge in EMC and so will have a very busy time ahead.
Seeing through the transition from a confirmed order to the packaged item and its audit trail to your premises is Mark Newman. Mark has seen some eight years with the company in total having first been a technician in the service department. His latest appointment as Receipt & Despatch manager needs all that accumulated knowledge on the company's products to ensure that everything you've ordered goes out and comes back. Mark will take directions from Janet and will also "get in the saddle" if there is an emergency delivery to make.
On collections a quick inspection will be made to ensure all pieces within the Item case have been returned ready for checking back at base.
Now I guess that's us more or less save mentioning a few words about the "Old Man" who owns and still runs the show, John Wombwell. John first started the company in 1972 under the name Electro-Metrics Service Ltd. based in Hitchin, Herts. In those days he maintained all the E-M equipment throughout Europe, Russia and China. However, the old company has undergone a few name changes since then and now concentrates on the core business of specialist EMC Rental and RF shielding evaluation. He has written this catalogue, hopefully providing sufficient technical information enabling the customer to make an informed choice. He believes in the importance of creating and appreciating a fine team in undertaking the running of the business and keeping our customers as satisfied as possible. John is still active enough to carry out the RF chamber testing and has considerable experience in measuring shielding performance.
