Our Team at EMC HIRE
As Director & General Manager of EMC Hire it gives me great pleasure to introduce both visually and informally our key members of staff to you. You may of course feel you know them already if you’re a regular customer.
Anthea Barker
On dialling our number the first person most likely to greet you is Anthea Barker whose overall knowledge & experience will ensure that you are transferred to the right person if available. Anthea fulfils a dual role as both Office Manager and with her twenty years of seniority with EMCH is also our Company Secretary. She will handle all billing matters at accounts level and can also stand in for Janet with any hire items you require if we are suddenly overloaded.
Janet Easterbrook
If you need to hire any equipment from either an ad-hoc selection to a complete system then you can refer to our hire catalogue, CD or website where a quotation can be requested. If you are having difficulties then contact Janet Easterbrook our Hire Manager. She acts as customer liaison within the Hire Department. Janet has a wealth of knowledge on most items and can give advice on a certain amount of item compatibility. She deals with everything from quotations through to the final despatch list. She will also arrange the allocation and shipment of all items by the most suitable method of transportation to the customer’s premises and collection when the hire terminates. With over fourteen years experience within the company she makes sure that the equipment hire “chain” runs smoothly.
Philip Pritchard
Should the enquirer need more serious technical advice as to which items to use then they will probably be transferred to Philip Pritchard our Service Manager who oversees all repairs & calibration. He is also responsible for the cycle of calibrations which each item undergoes. If Phil is not available, John our MD will step in.
Phil joined us nearly eleven years ago having previously worked on EMC within the MOD. He is responsible for checking all returned equipment before labelling it up ready for use again. Phil has gained extensive knowledge on the conducted immunity & high voltage test scenarios and on occasions will take equipment himself to the hirer’s premises with the purpose of setting up the entire test under software control & assisting until the hirer is competent to carry on.
Dave Williams and Ron McEwan
Take any day in the working week and it’s quite likely that both of our delivery vehicles are setting off either up the M1 or around the M25 trying to get all the despatches with our customers before mid day & then continue on to collect finished hires.
Let’s not forget the “Boys in the saddle”. Yes, I’m talking about our drivers Dave Williams (on the right) and Ron McEwan (below) with a van full of expensive equipment crawling along in a three mile jam stressed out with an appointment schedule to meet because you’re hoping to start a test before lunch time. So spare your frustration if we are running a little late.
They have the responsibility of choosing the best route possible having contacted “AA Road Watch” before setting off. Dave is ex Metropolitan Police (Traffic Div) and so provides much guidance and advice in vehicle movements. Ron has been in the electronics industry delivering locally for many a decade and is very familiar with identifying & handling electronic hardware with respect to the hire despatch forms.
Mark Newman
Seeing through the transition from a confirmed order to
the packaged item and its audit trail to your premises is Mark Newman. Mark has seen some seven years with the company in total having first been a technician in the service department. His latest appointment as Receipt & Despatch manager needs all that accumulated knowledge on the company’s products to see that everything you’ve ordered goes out and comes back. Mark will take directions from Janet and will also “ get in the saddle” if there is an emergency delivery to make.
John Wombwell
Now I guess that’s us more or less save mentioning a few kind words about the “old man” who runs the show, John Wombwell. He’s put these few pages together along with the catalogue because he believes in the importance of having and appreciating such a fine team involved in the show. John is still active enough to carry out most of the outside chamber testing and has considerable experience in shielding testing. He still plays a major role when it comes to putting hire systems together. John first started the company in 1972 under the name Electro-Metrics Service Ltd. based in Hitchin, Herts. In those days he maintained all the E.M. equipment throughout Europe & further East. However, the old company has undergone a few names changes since then and of course changing over to Rental.
