• Assist with EMC testing of electronic and electrical products in our Shefford test facilities.
• Learn to set up and operate RF instrumentation, antennas, amplifiers, receivers, spectrum analysers and EMC test software.
• Support radiated and conducted emissions and immunity testing under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Record, analyse and present test data accurately and consistently.
• Help prepare technical test information, customer documentation and reports.
• Support the maintenance, condition checking and calibration control of specialist test equipment.
• Work with colleagues and customers to understand test requirements and select appropriate equipment or test approaches.
• Build a practical understanding of EMC standards, regulations and test methodologies across different industries.
• Support off-site testing, customer demonstrations and equipment-hire operations when required.

You will be supported by experienced EMC engineers and technicians and will progressively develop the skills needed to work more independently, including:

• EMC fundamentals including emissions, immunity and RF measurement.
• How to configure and operate complete EMC test systems safely and correctly.
• How to interpret results, identify problems and support practical troubleshooting.
• How standards-driven testing differs across commercial, automotive, defence and other specialist sectors.
• How to communicate technical findings clearly to customers and colleagues.
• The practical judgement and confidence needed to progress toward an independent EMC engineering role.

Essential

• A BEng/BSc (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic or Electromechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• A sound understanding of electrical principles, circuits and signal behaviour.
• A genuine interest in hands-on engineering, testing, measurement and problem-solving.
• An analytical mindset, strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to ask questions and learn from experienced colleagues.
• Comfortable IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word; confidence working with data is important.
• A full UK driving licence, as some customer and off-site work may be required.
• Able to satisfy UK security-vetting requirements for defence-related customer projects where required, including SC clearance where applicable.
