The Narda PMM EP-601 is a broadband E-Field probe utilised for accurately measuring electrical field strength. Software is available for remote connectivity where the measured level can be viewed. The level is displayed as an isotropic value, but each axis can also be viewed independently.

Where would this be used? The Narda PMM EP-601 is predominantly used for Radiated Immunity testing.

This compact, unobtrusive electric field probe is designed for measuring radiated electric fields during EN61000-4-3 testing in enclosed chambers or GTEMs. With immunity specifications now extending up to 6 GHz, its operating range is ideally suited to current requirements. The unit is based on the ‘Orthogonal’ miniature sensor, with the sensor head connected via a duplex fibre-optic cable to a fibre-to-RS232 interface. A secondary interface then converts the RS232 output to USB, allowing direct connection to any laptop running the PMM display software. The hire kit includes a CD for software installation on the customer’s PC. We have also developed a custom driver so the probe can be used with one of our laptops and fully integrated into our Em-CIM conducted/radiated immunity software package.

The probe head itself comprises three miniature dipoles, each 52 mm in length. A 10 m fibre-optic cable links the probe head to the RS232 interface module.
