The absorbing clamp method of measurement is accepted by European EMC regulations as a standard method of measuring the interference power levels on cables connected to electronic & electrical devices from 30MHz - 1GHz. The clamp consists of a ferrite current transformer calibrated over the freq range with two groups of ferrite rings. The rings act as absorbers of energy & impedance stabilisers. The concept behind this is to isolate the DUT from external interference coming up from the mains.
